For only $10, YouthAIDS can provide one youth with health products, services, and education for one year. With a creative mind, help from your brothers, and lots of enthusiasm, you can create a fun event to raise awareness and funds for YouthAIDS programs.

Planning

The easiest way to plan a successful event is to get your whole chapter involved! Create a committee under the Vice President of Programming with a Special Events Chairman and recruit brothers to serve on the committee. This is a great way to get newer members involved in leadership positions. For a detailed outline of successful event planning, check out our “SigEp Event in a Box” PDF.

Registration

By registering your event with YouthAIDS you gain access to all of our resources and are able to get help and advice from the SigEp Outreach Coordinator, a brother who interns at YouthAIDS HQ in Washington, DC. Let us know about your event; fill out our SigEp Event Outline form and return it to the SigEp Outreach Coordinator at sigepyouthaids@psi.org.

Also, use the Student Ambassadors site to raise funds and manage your event online.

Event Ideas

If you’re having trouble coming up with an event for your chapter, check out some of these events that other chapters have done.

Fundraising

Dorm Wars
This popular event pits different dorms against each other in competitions to see which is the best. Several chapters, including CT Epsilon and MI Beta have similar events coming up in the fall!

Sports Tournaments
Hosting a sporting event, like a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, is a great way to harness competition between student organizations for a charitable benefit!

Date Auction
The name says it all! Get fraternities and sororities involved to have something for everyone. Let the bidding begin.

Talent Competitions
Also known as Greek Sing, talent competitions are an entertaining way to raise awareness and funds with an event everyone will want to see. Imagine how funny it would be to see your friends belt out their versions of popular songs.

Educational

Contact your school’s student health center/department to explore partnership opportunities.

Set up informational tables with YouthAIDS posters and fact sheets during fairs, festivals, sporting events, etc.

Host a lecture on HIV/ADS.

Partner with your campus TV and radio stations to broadcast YouthAIDS public service announcements.
